when you make pipe connections, you first apply primer solution on both ends of pipes, then you apply solvent on the pipe ends, plug one end of the pipe inside the other, connection is made. solvent is like a glue. primer is used to clean dirt, oil, grease etc...for cleaning purpose. hope it helps!
